Fast Fitness: Three Common Yoga Poses Done Incorrectly
Yoga has continued to grow in popularity, and for good reason — it offers significant mental and physical health benefits. However, as with any exercise regimen, form is critical to get the most out of it and avoid injury. Here are three common yoga poses done incorrectly, according to Health.com:
- Side plank. Even if you practice planks as an abdominal exercise, proper form is critical. Your hips need to be in line with your shoulders.
- Pigeon pose. Ensure your hips remain square throughout the pose.
- Wheel pose. Push away from the floor and bring your feet to a parallel position.
Of course, it’s hard to maintain form when you’re tired. If you feel you’ve exhausted yourself beyond the point that you can maintain good form, it may be worthwhile to take a break and avoid injury.
