Pull-ups are one of the benchmark exercises used to determine strength, yet so many of us struggle with them. Here are some tips to help you reach your goals – regardless if it’s doing one or 21, courtesy of Well and Good:
- Grip matters. Wrap your whole hand around the bar, stretching your fingers as far as you can. Then, grip the bar like you’re crushing it
- It’s all in your back. If you start by mostly flexing your biceps, you’re not going to have the strength to make it up
- Clench those glutes and your core. This is what makes those gymnasts look so graceful in the air. Recruiting all of your muscles – especially your strongest ones – in making the lift possible is key
With a little practice, you’ll be there in no time!
