Fast Fitness: Secrets from a Personal Trainer
I recently came across an article in Self where the author shares the lessons she learned about fitness during her journey to become a certified personal trainer. Here are some of the things she mentioned that your trainer or fitness-minded friends might not tell you, but can really help your fitness routine:
- Don’t do any serious stretching first thing in the morning. Do a quick warm-up in the morning before any serious stretching, which could increase your risk of injury.
- The mind-body connection is real. Don’t dismiss yoga. There is a real hormonal link between the brain and body that can help or hurt your ability to manage chronic conditions.
- Formulas for maximum heart rate aren’t all that accurate. A trainer can help determine your customized heart rate based on your body.
