I have been following the interest rate since my son is in the market to purchasing his first home.  The benchmark fixed rate on 30-year mortgages now sits at 6.43 percent. This rate is lower than it has been a couple of months ago but still, with the upward prices of homes, 6.43 percent is a heck of a lot of money!  I have noticed in California especially, 'tiny homes' is a thing.  Yes, people are doing this, and there are even communities of tiny houses popping up around the state of California. According to * Wikipedia,  the tiny-house movement is an architectural and social movement that advocates for downsizing living spaces, simplifying, and essentially "living with less."   These pint sized houses do pack comfort. I saw the cutest shed that was set up as a complete living space as a home, complete with a living room with a tv, bathroom, shower, full kitchen, etc. I could not believe that a shed could be converted to a living quarters.  As foreign as it seemed to me at first, these tiny homes really make sense since they are much cheaper and are just as homey and nicely decorated.  Stores such as the Container Store sell lots of storage options for small spaces to free up room in your tiny space.
