So Now They Are Gonna Equip Our Cars To Have Emotional Feelings?
Hey, I have a love / hate relationship with my car. Sometimes I absolutely love it, especially in the winter because I have never been in a car that heats up so quickly. I love feeling toasty warm while driving on a ice cold day. I especially love that my Subaru has a heated steering wheel and heated seats for the passengers in the back seat. I talk to my car and thank her for being so warm. I also yell at my car when my Bluetooth doesn’t connect or can’t understand me for voice recognition. I can almost see my headlights crying as if it were eyes when I call my car stupid when she can’t understand what I’m saying or the navigation system goes down! Well, it seems as though cars will show us their emotions. The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas where companies reveal bleeding-edge tech had some pretty impressive technology that we will soon be seeing in cars. BMW revealed it has created a car with a “soul.”
According to the blog TechCrunch, which saw the presentation of the luxury automaker’s cartoon-looking Vision Dee prototype, BMW claimed the car possesses “digital soul, a personality not only with a voice but with facial expressions, too.”
According to a release from the automaker, “‘Dee’ stands for Digital Emotional Experience” and the aim was “to create an even stronger bond between people and their cars going forward.” In fact, its engineers sought “to transform the car into an intelligent companion.”
The car can turn its entire windshield into an information display and can speak to its driver. If all this and “graphical elements, light and sound effects” aren’t enough, there’s “augmented-reality projection, right up to entry into virtual worlds.” Plus let’s say you are driving to the grocery store in a white car and decide that you want it to become yellow, the car can switch its appearance with a choice of 32 colors. Ha, I have a hard enough time finding my green Subaru in the parking lot as it is, imagine if you forgot what color you decided your car to be that day. You wouldn’t even be able to give a description of it if it were stolen because it could become blue in an instant… Too much for me think about.
