This TikTok Couple Take Their Cats Around The World
Happy National Cat Day! From all of us here in the Kitty Corner & Kennel Club, in celebration, we found a cat couple who have been taking their cats on every adventure and have been posting about it on their Instagram and TikTok gaining a massive following in the meantime.
Coming from Insider you can see all the amazing places that Dan and Olivia Nguyen have taken their cats Sponge Cake, Mocha, and Donut. Naming their TikTok and Instagram after their Scottish fold cat Sponge Cake, Mocha is also a Scottish fold cat while Donut is a British shorthair. Their TikTok @spongecake_cats has over 200 thousand followers, but over 7 million likes while their Instagram has over 300 thousand followers. Their goal is to travel the world, but it’s been a long journey already as Dan explained the process of getting his cats so trusting and accustomed to long-distance travel.
His secret is getting them used to being outside incrementally, by walking around places in Manhattan like Central Park and Times Square. All while his loving wife films Dan carrying the three cats in travel packs. Now over the course of 2 years since they got the cats back in 2020, they have gone to more adventurous places like Paris and Italy. Dan went into depth about the process he and Ovila put into booking things like plane tickets as well as finding pet-friendly hotels and activities, but to them, it’s worth all the extra effort. With their next vacation sights are set on Switzerland.
Though there certainly are some hurdles that come with bringing your cats with you as described by Dan one of those being travel requirements as some airlines won’t allow him to purchase a third plane ticket. Since the couple refuses to put their cats on hold like some who travel choose to do. Instead opting to take them handheld since the cats are under the requirement. Though according to them all three cats now love being outside and love traveling with some of their favorite places being Central Park
