U.S. Gov Begs Students Not To Go To Mexico For Spring Break
My son went to Puerto Rico with his friends for his college spring break vacation Puerto Rico is in the USA so we thought it would be a good experience for him to travel there. Well, maybe not…. he and his college buddies got their phones and their shoes stolen from the beach while they were in the water. Someone approached my son and showed him his phone and said they found his phone on the other end of the beach, and for a fee, he could buy his phone back. The fee was enormous! He borrowed someone’s phone to call us and ask us what he should do. We told him to tell them to keep his phone and move on. When vacationing, you need to be diligent of your surroundings and not trusting of all the people sharing the beach and always keep an eye on your stuff.
The U.S. State Department is warning college students not to go Spring Breaking in Mexico. They say four Americans were recently kidnapped there. Two were killed. A statement reads: “Violent crime – such as homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery – is widespread and common in Mexico. The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Mexico, as travel by U.S. government employees to certain areas is prohibited or restricted. In many states, local emergency services are limited outside the state capital or major cities.”
