Designer Lunch Box Dilemma: Would You Splurge on This Fashion Fad?
According to the New York Post, apparently, designer lunch boxes are the new “It” bags now. Forget the fancy purses ladies, it’s all about what you bring your lunch to the office in. Gone are the days of carrying your lunch in a paper bag or grocery tote bag. Designer fashion houses have taken the relaxing lunch break and turned it into a runway show. Prada, Balenciaga, YSL are all getting in on the action. But seriously, $1,990 for a Prada lunchbox? That’s not a lunch, that’s a down payment on a car! I don’t know about you but, I’d rather eat lunch with my hands than try to impress my coworkers with an expensive lunchbox.
The Lunch Box Revolution Takes Over Every Workspace
I’m all for a bit of style, but the price tags on these lunch boxes would make me gag before I even get my sandwich in my mouth! They’re enough to make anyone’s wallet whimper. Instead of a luxury car, it’s all about the lunch box for the latest status symbol. Who in their right mind would drop almost two grand on a lunchbox? If that price tag isn’t enough, these lunchboxes also have add-on features such as a stainless steel cutlery set for $480. Prada also sells a stainless steel sandwich box for $195 and a glass lunch bowl for $170.
No matter what you do for a living, if you’re willing to shell out that kind of dough, you can turn your lunch break into a high-fashion affair. Maybe we can get the construction workers in on this and put out lunchboxes that resemble a toolbox. I can just imagine them on their worksite pulling out a designer-boxed lunch! For those of us who are a bit more frugal, I think I’ll stick to my old tote bag and brown paper sack. My co-workers label me ‘bag lady’ but, I honestly don’t care!
