Christmas is Coming to New Jersey County Farm Fair
Hitting a local or state fair is an unforgettable experience. As a kid, the anticipation and excitement of taking a family trip to the local or farm fair was so exciting. As an adult, I still look forward to spending the day or night with my wife and kids walking around the fair.
Now that I’m older there’s an added feeling of nostalgia that creates a nice feeling and memories from when I was a little boy. It’s unavoidable with the sights of rides and games, and the smells of the food and farm fair animals. The animal smell isn’t always that pleasant, but it does take me back to my childhood and the thrill it was to get close to a llama, horse, or pig. The pig races too.
Burlington County Farm Fair 2024 Theme
This week begins the Burlington County Farm Fair, “The Family Fun Fair,” with the theme of the farm fair being “Christmas in July.” It occurs at the Burlington County Fairgrounds in Springfield Township, New Jersey. The Home Arts and Crafts Tent and the 4‑H Tent will have Christmas-themed entries.
The Future Farmers of America will have demonstrations on turf and grass management, fermentation, agriculture, and hunting dogs.
The Robotech team of students will be showing off their robot creations. The fair will also display old steam engines and antique farm equipment.
The previously mentioned horses, cows, rabbits, sheep, goats, and other animals are there every day competing for fair ribbons. There will also be horse shows and dairy cow shows where you can watch cows being milked. There will be a “draft horse pull,” tractor pull, kid’s “farmer for a day,” and “kid’s tractor pull.”
Burlington County Farm Fair Military Appreciation Night
Two things that I don’t remember seeing as a kid, and have never seen are the “women’s skillet throw,” and “men’s spike driving.” New to the farm fair in 2024 is their “Red Eye rodeo,” and there will also be fireworks on Military Appreciation Night on the 18th.
The Burlington County Farm Fair’s mission according to its website is “To promote agriculture, social life, and youth as well as educate the general public by conducting a yearly agricultural fair with exhibits, livestock, and farm products.”
The farm fair runs from Tuesday, July 16 through Saturday, July 20, from 4:00 to 10:30 every day. Get more information and check out the full schedule here.
