According to AOL, there is a new way for singles to meet and it is trending in California. In sunny Santa Monica, singles are ditching the warm sand for a dip in near-freezing ice baths to find a hot date!
Males and females are seen wearing swim trunks and bikinis. They may be shivering, but they are also smiling as they get into icy waters to find their perfect match. The couple prepare for the icy plunge with a session of meditation to get everyone in the right vibe.
Once they’re paired up and in the water, they’re armed with waterproof cards loaded with conversation starters like, “What does love mean to you?” It’s like they’re breaking the ice in more ways than one!
Kyle Cassidy and his partner Aryan Davani, who run IcePass, a company all about icy experiences created this idea. They’ve had a few events already, and some couples have even made it to second dates. Who knew you can bond over freezing temperatures!
Whitney Hancock, a 36-year-old mental health worker, said she was so surprised at how present they could be with each other, even though they were both practically freezing. It seems like the cold brought out the warmth in their interactions. Initially, I think I would be focused on how cold I am instead of listening to what the guy has to say. After get used to the cold temps, I could find this experience very exciting because it is so unusual.
Next time you are in Santa Monica, forget the beach bonfires. Taking a dip in an ice bath is the way to find love there. My grandmother used to say that you find love where you least expect it. Maybe she was ahead of her time and perhaps today she could have created the frosty waters of Icebreakers!
