Scores Of People Falling For Netflix Scam
I receive a lot of emails everyday and there are a few I know are definite scams and immediately delete them. For example, during the Holiday season I was getting numerous emails from what looked like it was from Walmart. The email told me that my package was on it’s way and if I clicked on the link, I can track it’s location. For sure I knew that was a scam, because I did not order anything from Walmart! This type of phishing approach, known as malware phishing, looks like a trustworthy attachment but if you click on it, could cause your computer to stop completely.
Email phishing is the easiest way to lure email recipients into sharing their personal information. These phony hyperlinks look so real. WMTW says scam artists are using Netflix to steal personal information. They are sending Emails to people telling them their Netflix account is about to be suspended. I have received that email too! It really looks like it came from Netflix. Joel has received a text message stating that his Netflix account is about to be suspended. So whether it’s in an email or a text, it’s still a scam! In the email they then offer you a chance to renew your membership and avoid a suspension. Nobody wants their Netflix subscription to be interrupted, especially if they are in the middle of watching their favorite series. That is why people quickly open this email without really thinking that it might be a scam. The hackers ask for personal and banking info. My advice is not to open any links but, go directly to the website in your search engine. The police are urging people to delete the Emails.
