I was just a little kid, but I remember staying up late on just about Saturday night to watch with my older brother.
I’ve only been to New York City to see it live in person once. It was in January of 2013. Coincidentally, this year’s Super Bowl halftime performer, Kendrick Lamar, was the musical guest. Adam Levine was the host with surprise appearances by Jerry Seinfeld and Cameron Diaz.
Both being major fans of the show, my wife, Kathleen, and I had the time of our lives that night. We were given a tour of 8H, the set and studios, met some crew and cast members, watched the show sitting in between Dr. Dre and Dr. Oz, and then hit every Irish bar in New York.
The folks at Saturday Night Live know that when you celebrate 50 years of something it can never be too much or too big. Lorne Michaels and the rest of the Saturday Night Live producers, cast, and guests are pulling out all the stops with multiple specials and their latest announcement is another major production.
It’s easy to lose track of all the SNL specials celebrating their 50th so I’ll try to ease the confusion a bit. Let’s begin with the latest announcement and work our way backward.
SNL50 - The Latest Reveal
SNL50: The Anniversary Special is the most recent lineup announcement and it’s three hours airing on NBC and Peacock on February 16th. This one features some of the biggest names in music including Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Then there are the other entertainment heavies such as Kim Kardashian, Tom Hanks, Robert DeNiro, Quinta Brunson, Woody Harrelson, Dave Chappelle, and Peyton Manning.
Previously announced and scheduled for Valentine’s Day is the three-hour SNL50: The Homecoming Concert live from Radio City Music Hall. It will hosted by Jimmy Fallon and feature performances by Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Eddie Vedder, Bonnie Raitt, Chris Martin, Brandi Carlile, Jellyroll, and David Byrne.
Ladies and Gentlemen: 50 Years of SNL Music is a fantastic SNL50 documentary curated by Questlove, is now streaming, and features close to sixty interviews with an unbelievable mashup to open the show. I’ve watched it three times so far.
Another feature for their 50th year that I’ve watched is Saturday Night Live’s SNL 50: Beyond Saturday Night. This is a docuseries with four different episodes that feature a cowbell sketch breakdown, the writers, the performers, and Season 11: The Weird Year.
If all of this isn’t enough, you can also stream every episode from the past fifty years, also on Peacock.
I’m already looking forward to the 75th!
What the Stars Wore: 2025 Grammy Awards Best Dressed
The 2025 Grammy Awards were not just a celebration of music (or a chance to see if this would finally be Beyoncé's year to win Album of the Year—despite having won more Grammys than anyone else, she’s yet to win this particular award), but also an opportunity for musicians to showcase their impeccable red-carpet fashion.
From daring couture to classic elegance, we saw some unforgettable looks that made everyone’s heads turn. Let’s take a look at the best-dressed stars who stunned on the red carpet.
Sabrina Carpenter
Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty ImagesSabrina Carpenter has had an eventful 2024 and welcomed 2025 with a bang. Nominated for six awards, Carpenter walked the 2025 Grammy Awards red carpet in a periwinkle halter dress that accentuated her figure. The dress featured feather detailing at the waist and hem. Her hair was styled up, with a few curls framing her face. The “Espresso” singer completed her look with minimal jewelry.
Olivia Rodrigo

Fresh off her Guts World Tour, Rodrigo is nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Can’t Catch Me Now.” The “driver's license” singer styled her hair in soft curls, exuding a sultry vibe. She completed her look with dangling earrings, a delicate bracelet, and a few rings.
Zedd
Photo by Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty ImagesZedd managed to stand out without going overboard. The Grammy-nominated record producer wore a tweed suit that fit him perfectly. On awards night, many men wear forgettable black suits that make them look like everyone else, or, in an attempt to stand out, wear flamboyant outfits. Zedd kept it classy yet different with his dark green and black suit, which he accessorized with a ring and a watch.
Taylor Swift
Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty ImagesThis year, Taylor Swift kept it simple yet striking in a red one-shoulder minidress by Vivienne Westwood. The “All Too Well” singer still managed to turn heads. She accessorized with red dangling earrings and a bold thigh chain featuring a “T” pendant, which fans speculate is a nod to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Gracie Abrams
Photo by Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty ImagesSome might argue that Gracie Abrams should not be on this list. At first glance, her dress might seem underwhelming, but she’s on this list because her look is timeless and perfectly aligned with her brand. She looked ethereal, exactly what you’d expect a pop-folk artist to wear on a red carpet. The “Risk” singer wore a white Chanel gown with black belt detailing and a veil.
Kelsea Ballerini
Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty ImagesWe love the duality of Kelsea Ballerini’s dress. The “Cowboys Cry Too” singer was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Noah Kahan. Ballerini wore a short black dress with a long cape that doubled as a train during her red-carpet appearance. But we think she’ll ditch the cape later tonight, to be more party-ready!
Cardi B
Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty ImagesCardi B channeled old Hollywood glam in a figure-hugging dress with a trailing hem adorned with multi-colored feathers. Nominated for Best Rap Performance for “Enough (Miami),” the rapper styled her hair in soft, voluminous curls. She kept her accessories minimal and opted for a nude makeup look that perfectly complemented her ensemble.
Miley Cyrus
Photo by Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty ImagesMuch like her look at the Golden Globes, Miley Cyrus chose a Saint Laurent black cut-out dress that highlighted her figure and showcased her toned abs. She paired the dress with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Her hair was straightened and sleek, with full bangs framing her face. Cyrus was one of the early Grammy winners, taking home Best Country Duo/Group Performance alongside Beyoncé for “II Most Wanted.”
Victoria Monét

She paired the look with a shimmering necklace that enhanced her ethereal vibe. She looks like she stepped out of a fantasy novel or ancient Greek mythology.
John Legend
Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty ImagesJohn Legend played it safe with a monotone outfit, but he still earned a spot on our best-dressed list. His look was polished, and the suit featured a subtle, snake-skin embossed pattern that added a quirky touch. Instead of the traditional necktie, he opted for a satin bow tie.
Charli XCX
Photo by Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty ImagesCharli XCX attended the Grammy Awards wearing a gray ruffled dress. The color of the dress made her pop because of its striking contrast with the red carpet. She paired the dress with black knee-high boots, which were visible thanks to the thigh-high slit at the front. The corset detailing of the dress accentuated her figure. Her album ‘Brat’ was nominated for Album of the Year and won the Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Recording Package.
Benson Boone
Photo by Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty ImagesNominated for Best New Artist (a category that Chappell Roan won), Benson Boone looked dashing in a dark blue suit, going shirtless underneath. He completed the look with a necklace and several rings, adding a touch of edge to his ensemble. He also posed on the red carpet rocking dark brown aviator sunglasses.
