You Survived Thanksgiving, But Can You Avoid Thanksgiving Weight Gain?
Chances are the weight you gained over the long Thanksgiving weekend is only temporary. The average person usually gains an extra two to four pounds. That’s enough to feel your stomach bloat as you sit on your office chair on Monday. When you switch up your diet there are changes that happen to your body but, your body works to keep you within a set weight range. Your body adjusts to keep you from gaining weight. Most of the food weight and water retention will disappear in time.
If you are worried about gaining weight during the holiday season think about connecting with the food you’re eating. Ask yourself, “Does this taste good? Am I actually enjoying this?” When I feel like I’m eating too much I ask myself, “Am I eating because I’m hungry or because it tastes good?” Overeating long term requires self-control and self- discipline, but at the same token, eating is an enjoyment in life. Don’t be too hard on yourself. The fact is, that one Thanksgiving meal won’t derail you off the tracks of your weight loss goals. Cheers to our mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.
