Who’s in the Mood for a Snowstorm??
No, we’re not getting a blizzard this weekend. Let me just start by saying that.
Call me crazy. Even though this week, we saw a few snowflakes and might see a few more over the next few days, I have to say that I’m disappointed we haven’t seen a classic HUGE snowstorm yet this year.

My name is Brett, and I love snow.
I know. It’s not the most popular opinion, and people roll their eyes when I say this.
But some of the best times of my life have been in the insanely large snowstorms. Looking back to growing up, listening to the radio, hearing, “Edison Township Public Schools: CLOSED” sent such a rush through my body! (Blizzard of ’96, anyone?) Then, having hot chocolate, making snow forts, building snowman, helping my parents shovel… Okay, maybe that last one isn’t the most fun.
Even now being an adult, I LOVE huge snowstorms. Granted, some of it has to do with living in an apartment building that shovels and salts. (My homeowner family and friends are often jealous.)

Yes, I was on the news.
I still remember what it was like during Winter Storm Jonas in 2016. It was a weekend storm, so it didn’t affect most people’s workdays. It was such a blast getting together with friends, going to local restaurants and bars within walking distance and building snowmen together. (We even got on the news for the snowman we built!)
Sure, snowstorms can be hectic and can certainly put a damper on plans sometimes. But when you have a classic blizzard forcing you to stay inside and take it easy, it’s not the WORST thing, right?

Who says you’re ever too old to build a snowman?
Even this weekend with the potential flash freeze, it’s definitely a good idea to hang inside and avoid travel when it starts to get dicey on Sunday into Monday – especially if you have Monday off in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Play some old-fashioned board games, spend some quality time with people who make you happy and don’t stress! (Maybe hire someone to de-ice your car or driveway, too…)
What do you think? Are you a snow lover like I am? Or am I just insanely crazy?
