New Jersey’s Haunted House Obsession Rank on National Ghost Hunting Day
Pennsylvania, Bucks County, New Hope, Logan Inn, 1727, Colonial-Style Architecture, With Horse-Drawn Carriage In Front.
The 30th of September marks National Ghost Hunting Day in America, attracting the attention of ghost enthusiasts across the nation.
My wife, Kathleen, and I actually stayed in one of the “13 Most Haunted Houses in America.” It was just a couple of years ago and we spent the night in The Logan Inn in New Hope, PA. It was built in 1722 and is directly across the river from Lambertville, NJ.
I had purchased the night in a silent auction a few months prior and Kathleen was so excited about it. We both were but she loves this stuff. Her favorite shows are things like Ancient Aliens, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, and other “unexplained” shows like that. Eerily, her birthday also happens to be September 30th, National Ghost Hunting Day!
The Logan Inn is known to have a little girl ghost often roaming their parking lot. We didn’t witness or see anything that night. However, some of the other guests who were staying for a second or third time said they had seen some creepy things. One couple even claimed that someone had entered their room that night and stood at the foot of their bed and woke them up.
These types of experiences can be found and several “haunted houses” throughout the country. These are not the houses that were created specifically for Halloween. They are actual haunted houses that have spooky incidents that have occurred within the walls of the property.
AirportParkingReservations.com took a deep dive into all things ghost-related to reveal the states that are most obsessed with haunted houses. They examined the number of searches for haunted houses, haunted house reports, and the number of ghost stories and Ghost Adventures episodes filmed in each state.
New Jersey landed 35th out of the 50 states and was found to have the following:
Haunted Houses Searches per 10,000: 481.5
Ghost hunters or adventures filmed in each state: 15
Haunted Locations reported by GhostQuest: 177
Ghost Searches Per 10,000: 1005.9
Haunted Obsessed (out of 40): 8.7
California took the number one spot in the US for paranormal lovers. The data revealed that there are 431 searches for “haunted house” per 10,000 residents. There were 45 total episodes from Ghost Hunters & Ghost Adventures filmed in the state. Plus, GhostQuest.net, a ghost reporting site, found 1351 total haunted locations have been reported.
New York came in second with the second-highest number of episodes filmed within the state. They have a total of 1250.3 searches for ghosts for every 10,000 residents. New York also has two entries on the list.
Beyond Pumpkin Spice: 8 Other Fall Flavors That Steal The Show
Fall seems to arrive earlier every year. Coffee shops like Starbucks now introduce their autumn-themed drinks as early as August, and stores swiftly stock their shelves with Halloween decorations.
When we think of fall flavors, pumpkin spice often comes to mind. Many of us are aware that pumpkin spice isn’t actually derived from pumpkins. A pumpkin is a squash that has a distinct taste far from the combination of cinnamon and syrup. Pumpkin spice is just a mix of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
While this spice blend lends its flavor to a wide range of products, including lattes, cereal, pretzels, donuts, gum, and more, it’s worth mentioning that not all people prefer it. In fact, there exists a Reddit thread specifically devoted to discussing the dislike of pumpkin spice-flavored items. A commenter expressed, “I’m in the hate pumpkin spice camp as well. It absolutely takes over the dairy aisle in the stores to the point of not carrying my usual products.” Another Redditor added their thoughts with, “Every season they hardcore promote pumpkin spice everything to kick off fall, and I hate it. It doesn’t even smell that good.”
Besides the popular pumpkin spice latte, there’s a wide variety of seasonal ingredients that contribute to the special taste of autumn, whether you’re preparing your own homemade treats or enjoying comforting dishes. These flavors range from the components in traditional apple pie recipes to the aromatic spices found in typical autumn soups, all representing the essence of the season’s most cherished foods. Who knows, maybe down the road, we’ll be as crazy about apples or cinnamon as we are about pumpkin spice.
If you’re looking to step away from the pumpkin spice trend or simply want to savor a wider range of fall flavors, take a peek at these other flavors that scream “autumn.”
