Homecoming Performances Coming This Weekend for Jersey’s Own Molly McDermott
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live: King for a Day is coming to New Jersey for two shows at two different venues. Tickets are on sale now and are available at danieltigerlive.com or the venue websites TheBasie.org and MayoArts.org.
There’s a local performer at both shows. New Jersey native Molly McDermott was born and raised in Morris Plains, New Jersey. Additionally, during our conversation, Molly talked about how she was working in the booking department at the Mayo Performing Arts Center when she was offered to tour with the show. She had just graduated college and got her first job in the production. It’s her “first professional show and she’s touring over fifty cities across the U.S.” She actually missed one of her final exams to travel to do the call back in person. Molly plays the role of Chrissie and carved some time out of her busy schedule to chat with us about the show.

The music adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning series is bringing Daniel Tiger and all of his friends back live to a few stages in New Jersey.
O the Owl, Miss Elaina, Katerina Kittycat, Prince Wednesday, and more beloved characters join Daniel and are ready to take us on a new adventure. They live in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe where Daniel will learn about being King. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE: King For A Day features new songs to sing along to and moments that will entertain the whole family. There are some surprise guests as they teach lessons about kindness, helping others, and being a friend.
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is based on the Neighborhood of Make-Believe from Mister Rodgers’ Neighborhood and produced by Fred Rogers Productions, which was started by Fred Rogers and produced his long-running show. The series follows the children and family of characters in Rodgers’ original Neighborhood of Make-Believe. It includes the daughter of Henrietta Pussycat, nephew of X the Owl, and the youngest son of King Friday and Queen Sara Saturday, as well as the original Trolley.
