Best Times to Travel in New Jersey During the Memorial Day Weekend
It’s Memorial Day weekend and everybody knows that it’s the unofficial kick-off to Summer, even though Summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21st.
Because Memorial Day weekend is a three-day weekend many people will be traveling. Since we’re in New Jersey there are so many places to visit and things to do including our boardwalks, beaches, and parks, and we’ll be driving to all of these places and more this weekend.
If you’re planning to travel over Memorial Day weekend, you’re not alone. The American Automobile Association aka AAA predicts this holiday weekend is one of the busiest we’ve seen in a long time. Triple A is expecting over 42 million people to travel for the long weekend, and most of those people will be driving.
Transportation analyst Bob Pishue says, “With lower fuel prices and more travelers on the road compared to last year, drivers should expect long delays this holiday weekend, especially in and around major metros as commuters mix with Memorial Day travelers.”
Anytime we drive in New Jersey the traffic is heavy, so it’s going to be an extra special experience this weekend. If you want to avoid the busiest traffic times in New Jersey, here are the times to avoid per AAA.
These are the times you don’t want to be driving Memorial Day weekend…
