I love weddings. I have either attended, been in, or provided the entertainment for hundreds of weddings in my life, and most of them were in New Jersey. Next to my own wedding, my friend’s daughter’s wedding was the most fun to attend. Everything was perfect. From the picturesque setting to the beautiful flowers to the great entertainment, to the delicious food, to the amazing after-party, and on and on. While there may be many that were great weddings to be a part of that was one that stood out, mostly due to the entertainment. Wilted flowers won’t ruin a wedding, but an awful DJ or band certainly will.
So, what makes a New Jersey wedding awesome and makes it stand out as one that people will talk about for the rest of their lives? Is it a beautiful view? Is it good food? Or is it great music?
For New Jersey residents, getting married on a beach is the best spot to get say “I do.” We chose the beach over a church, a resort, or a park. The folks at engagement ring company Shane Co. set out to find out wedding day preferences, and they surveyed over 3,000 people across every state to gather the information.
They broke down wedding day preferences regarding location, date, time, and much more. Interestingly the top three states that spend the most on weddings are all on the East Coast. Florida and Maryland are at the top of the list.
New Jersey came in third on the list with residents spending an average of $20,470.00, and preferring a Spring wedding in the early evening. The average size of the wedding party in New Jersey was 7, and the guest list was around 89 people.
Other findings include, 59% would choose a DJ over a band, and 60% prefer a buffet over a sit-down dinner.
The survey results also showed that New Jersey residents prefer an open bar where guests don’t have to pay for their drinks at the reception. Get the full survey here.
4 New Jersey Cities Make Best Party Cities in the US List
New Jersey knows how to get down. According to Bonus Finder, four New Jersey cities have been ranked as some of the “best party cities in the United States.”
The casino review site compiled the list of United States cities based on several attributes the city had to have. Bonus Finder looked at the following criteria:
- Music Events
- Bars
- Nightclubs
- Late Night Food Venues
- Hotels
- Casinos
- Stripclubs
The site even had your pockets in mind when determining where is the best place to go for a great night out. Below are some factors that Bonus Finder considered in their ranking:
- Average Price of a Drink
- Average Price of a Hotel Room
- Average Taxi Cost from the Airport to the City Center
Lastly, (and maybe most importantly, depending on who you ask), the site also considered which clubs and events had the latest “last call at the bar.”
The site reviewed “the number of bars, hotels, nightclubs, casinos, stripclubs, and late night food venues were calculated per 10,000 people. Each city has a normalized score out of 10 on each of the factors, before taking an average total normalized score across each of these scores to reach our final overall score out of 10.”
