The World Snooker Championship was held this week, however, it didn't go quite as planned. After nature activists from the group 'Just Stop Oil' stormed the tournament floor.
Some may remember a few months ago when paintings by famous artists had food thrown at them, while protestors glued themselves to the wall. This is the same group as before.
From Eurosport this time protestors have moved onto the world of sport as two activists tried to get onto separate tables that were being played, one was the championship match between Mark Allen and Fan Zhengyi.
The first protestor might have failed as she was wrestled off the table by security before she could do anything. However, a second member found success at a neighboring table leading to the video below.
It seems they've been banned from food stores as the orange powder was used to cover the table. They also must have run out of super glue as the female attempted to tie themselves to the table, but failed.
Though I'm curious how they were able to sneak in two bags of powder and nobody thought to question it. Though in all seriousness the group is trying to stop the United Kingdom's planned use of fossil fuels, I just question if this is the right way to go about it.
Frankly speaking, I don't know much about Snooker, I just know it's a bit different from Pool, but could you imagine this is a big moment for the players and have something like this interrupt them?
I think most people would be annoyed especially the people who paid to get seats. This is a step above the art museum incidents that happened months ago. The worst part is this is just gonna encourage others to do similar actions.
Well according to the reports, both activists were taken into custody and this is the second attempt this month that activists have performed protests at major sports events.
Do you think they went too far or is this what needs to be done to protect the planet?
