Cadbury says that for the first time, they are outsourcing the job it normally holds for rabbits to a one-eyed cat named Crash. You read correctly, this year there will be no Cadbury Easter Bunny. Instead, the commercials and ads you see for Cadbury will feature an Easter Kitty instead.
The chocolate company announced Crash as the winner of its annual Cadbury Bunny contest, making it the first feline winner. Their website says, “Congratulations, Crash! After breaking his leg and jaw and losing an eye, Crash charmed his way into becoming a resident shelter cat who performs the cutest tricks. He reminds us that every cat is worth saving.”
Crash is from Boise, Idaho, and was voted the winner of Cadbury’s Rescue Pets Edition of its Bunny Tryouts. He will join the previous winners in the Cadbury Hall of Fame and star in his own Clucking Bunny commercial, which is running now.
The kitty was awarded $5,000 and the rescue of his choice got $5,000, as well.
Crash is 8 years old and lost an eye after being injured in a serious car accident. He remained loving and sweet as he recovered at the Simply Cats rescue and eventually became the shelter’s spokescat. Crash even learned a few tricks, such as a high five.
CNN reports that his owner Maddie Corey said in a statement, “We are jumping with joy to hear Crash is the next Cadbury Bunny but not surprised as he is always the center of attention in any room. He’s been through so much over the past few years and we appreciate the love his friends, family, and cat enthusiasts across the country have shown.”
Finalists include Cypress the Beaver from Farmerville, LA, Redbird the guinea pig from Terra Alta, WV, and Bunny the dog from Naperville, IL. The Cabury winners since 2019 have also included three dogs and a frog.
After 31 Years Labrador Retriever No Longer Most Popular Dog
There’s a new top dog!
The American Kennel Club has revealed some dog house-shaking news. For the first time in 31 years, the Labrador Retriever is not the country’s most popular dog breed. The most popular dog has climbed up the list from being number 14 in 2012 to slowly working its way up to the top. After landing at number 2 in 2021, the French Bulldog is the number one breed in America.
The AKC says, “The Frenchie is a smart, compact breed, and they can fit into various different lifestyles, perfect for people all across the country. This petite dog was first recognized by the AKC in 1898; they are beloved by everyone from families to single owners for their charming and adaptable nature. They have surged in popularity in cities across the country since their small size and generally quiet demeanor make them good fits for apartments and smaller homes.” The AKC was founded in 1884 and ranks 200 breeds.
Yes, you are correct if you guessed that Treeing Walker Coonhounds came in at 159 on the list.
My favorite came in at 8, here’s the top ten…
