Why Wearable Health Tech Is Booming
Last year my son got me an Apple Watch to track my workouts. My watch became my addiction. I am constantly checking my steps and calories throughout the day, even when I am not working out. I also have a low resting heart rate from being a long-distance runner for many years. When I am relaxing and doing something like watching TV, my watch sometimes sends an alarm alert letting me know that my beats per minute have gone down to 38.
There are wearable health gadgets that are becoming even more popular than a workout monitor type of watch. Since people are getting more interested in staying healthy, people want to monitor their day to see if they are on track with their health requirements. These new gadgets help us do that by giving us all sorts of health data. These gadgets keep getting better and smarter. They use special sensors to gather all this info and send it to your phone, so you can see how you’re doing. It’s almost like having a doctor nearby since these gadgets can even tell you if something seems off with your heart or stress levels.
The doctors say wearable health gadgets can save us money since patients will not have to come into the office all the time. Since the wearables provide routine health monitoring, we are to think of this as preventative healthcare. Some of the wearable health gadgets are self-adhesive patches as opposed to wearing a watch. The patches can do so much including telling us our fluid content. How cool is it that technology will be able to predict if we’re going to get sick before it even happens?
According to Linkedin wearable technology in healthcare isn’t just a trend – it’s changing the way we take care of ourselves, making it easier, more fun, and even helping us live healthier lives. I enjoy comparing my stats to my son’s and friends. Especially when it comes to doing a workout, we can compete against one another and that gives us the motivation to bring ourselves to put on our workout shoes and do a workout when we are tired.
