Slim Chickens Chain Opening Several New Jersey Restaurants
Slim Chickens, an Arkansas-based restaurant chain, announced that it is opening stores in Middlesex, Mercer, and Essex counties.
About Slim Chickens
According to their website, Slim Chickens’ founder’s mission was, and still is, to make the best hand-breaded chicken tenders, using only the freshest ingredients. Furthermore, to serve them in a friendly atmosphere, where people can relax and enjoy.
They use a southern-style buttermilk marinade that it’s said makes their tenders crispy and crunchy on the outside, while staying moist and tender on the inside! Meanwhile, the company is also known for southern cuisine like macaroni and cheese, and chicken and waffles. They have 14 amazing dipping sauces as well as milkshakes and desserts!
The restaurant is not new to the fried chicken game. The Arkansas company now has no less than 275 locations worldwide, with restaurants in North America, Europe, and Asia. They had a location open in Flemington, New Jersey in 2021. However, that project didn’t pan out, and the location closed its doors within a few months of opening.

So Where And When Can We Expect Slim Chickens In New Jersey?
As of right now, the plan is to open a dozen or so stores in Middlesex, Mercer, and Essex counties over the next couple of years. There is no word on any Monmouth or Ocean County locations yet, but I imagine that if the other county locations take off as expected, the Jersey Shore will eventually have no slim pickins for Slim Chickens!
