As someone notorious for being late with RSVPs, this story hit me like a ton of bricks. If I were to call the couple to confirm my attendance, and I was met with a response like, “I’m sorry,” the reply read, “but the RSVP deadline has passed, and we’ve already finalized our guest list. We won’t be able to accommodate any late responses.” I would at first feel disappointment and embarrassment, and then later get mad that they did not go out of their way to accommodate me. I believe they should make a phone call to the venue and add the guests.
According to this couple, it’s natural to feel disappointed or even insulted if you’re unable to attend a wedding due to a missed RSVP deadline, but you should respect the couple’s decision. They claim that planning a wedding involves a lot of logistics, including coordinating with the venue and catering services based on confirmed guest counts. As for me, if I was told I could not attend due to my lateness, they will not get a gift from me. Snobby little bride!
