Green Tea Makes You Happier in New Jersey
As I was sipping on my cup of green tea, with my hands wrapped in the warmth of the cup, I was so happy to come across this article in the NY Post. The New York Post says green tea can boost your mood and make you happier. There seems to be so much depression and anxiety in our world today. I find everyday people everywhere are experiencing the feeling of being overwhelmed. The constant feeling of being overwhelmed hurts our health. According to the Mayo Clinic, anxiety can lead to, or worsen, other mental and physical conditions like giving you trouble falling asleep at night. Worrying can give you headaches, and digestive problems and can even lead to suicide.
I am not saying that having a few cups of green tea will make all your problems disappear, but research shows that people who drink at least three cups of green tea per week have a 21% lower chance of depression. The caffeine and L-theanine in green tea calm the mind and reduce anxiety. I was unsure of what exactly in the drink could put a smile on our pretty faces so I did a little research myself. I found that the term Theanine is an amino acid found in green tea leaves and it is Theanine that helps you relax and keep stress at bay. I do not know about you, but I think it is worth sipping on some tea during your work day.
I have made a delicious Chai Tea that requires ingredients that I am sure almost everyone has in their kitchen. It made this deliciousness with six bags that I boiled in 3 cups of water. As it started to boil, I added a little vanilla extract, cinnamon, ground ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, and honey. Remove the tea bags and add 3 cups of milk as you lower the flame on the burner. How much of the spices? Ha! I never measure, I just shake the spices in until the smell captures my senses enough to make me feel good. I think it is more than worth giving green tea a try.
