Artificial Intelligence Technology is “Nudifying” and “Undressing” PG Movies and More

OMG, is this really possible?
Artificial intelligence is entering an area that makes many of us uncomfortable for several reasons.
Social media analysts Graphika say that in just one month more than 24 million people have visited websites that use Artificial Intelligence to digitally remove the clothes off a person in a normally PG picture. Yes, you read correctly. This creates what’s become known as non-consensual intimate imagery. It must be a serious concern because it’s got an acronym already (NCII).
Most of us are aware of the practice of digitally pasting the head of a person onto someone else’s naked body. That’s been around for many years. However, this technology is something else entirely. This technology creates a realistic image of what that real person’s unclothed body looks like.
It’s so common that the report’s headline says that using AI like this has gone from “niche” to “a scaled and monetized online business.”
Grafika says the companies that can do this have gotten bold. They are openly advertising on social media and eliminating the need for a person to have any technical skill to purchase the content.
The report also claims that “The volume of referral link spam for these services has increased by more than 2,000% on platforms including Reddit and X since the beginning of 2023. A set of 52 Telegram groups used to access NCII services contain at least 1 million users as of September this year.”
Here’s one of the many issues. These “open-source AI models” made “nudifying” a photo of a person go from “a time-consuming and sometimes expensive process” to one that allows “a larger number of providers to easily and cheaply create photorealistic NCII at scale.”
Furthermore, they share that, “The increasing prominence and accessibility of these services will very likely lead to further instances of online harm, such as the creation and dissemination of non-consensual nude images, targeted harassment campaigns, sextortion, and the generation of child sexual abuse material.”
If you think about it, this is only going to get worse. Once this becomes an easy program or app for anyone to use, the unthinkable will happen. This is an app that could be as easy to use as the photo filters we use every day. Someone can take a video of anyone and “strip it” immediately.
With technology advancing by leaps and bounds every minute, yes, this is really possible.
'Barbenheimer' Dominates Golden Globe Nominations
On Monday (December 11), Cedric “The Entertainer” and Wilmer Valderrama announced the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards nominees. The Golden Globes will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET. Of the 22 categories in film and television, Barbie and Oppenheimer took the nominations by storm. Greta Gerwig’s film took a whopping ten nominations, making it the second-most nominated film in the awards show’s history, tying with 1972’s Cabaret! Following close behind was another summer blockbuster which famously opened the same weekend, Oppenheimer. That film scored eight nods for the January awards show. Christopher Nolan’s latest installment along with Gerwig’s Barbie caused a cultural phenomenon that morphed into the ultimate double feature: “Barbenheimer.”
Unlike the Oscars, the Globes honor the best of both film and television. They also distinguish between film genres, separating comedies and musicals from dramas. This means that Oppenheimer will compete for the top drama prize alongside Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest, and Past Lives. Meanwhile, in the best comedy or musical genre, Barbie will compete against Air, American Fiction, Poor Things, May December, and The Holdovers.
There are some notable changes to this year’s show, as each category now has six nominees instead of five. On top of that, the Globes introduced two new prizes to celebrate box office achievements and stand-up comedy performances. That means that films like Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, John Wick: Chapter 4, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are being recognized for their ticket sales. While the likes of comedians Trevor Noah, Amy Schumer, and Ricky Gervais are getting attention for their stand-up specials. Some notable snubs this year include Ava DuVernay’s Origin and Michael Mann’s Ferrari, which weren’t nominated, despite good reviews. Additionally, The Color Purple failed to snag a best musical or comedy nomination.
Take a look below at the top list of nominations for the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards:
Joel Katz is the Morning Show Personality, Assistant Program Director, Podcast Host, Voiceover artist, audio producer, and Digital Content Writer for Magic 98.3. Joel has been working in New Jersey radio since college and started at Magic in 2002 as the Morning Show Host, “I can’t think of another place where I’d fit more perfectly; it’s just a great company with awesome people.” Joel is married to Kathleen, his elementary school sweetheart (they were each other’s first dates at age 9), shares a birthday with his oldest son, Ty, and has twins, Kiera and Liam. Joel runs at least 3.1 miles every day and enjoys playing basketball, doing laundry, saving his turn signal for when he really needs it, kissing dogs through a fence, using coasters, making that cool noise by rubbing his fingers on balloons, and chasing after ping pong balls on a windy cruise ship.
