There's a brand-new study that reveals the unhealthiest cities across New Jersey.

The research conducted by Leafwell analyzes all 109 regions, towns, and cities across New Jersey. The study is based on the number of times each state Googles a search term related to a healthy lifestyle. For example, if someone living in New Brunswick, New Jersey searches for "the best hiking trails in New Jersey."

They conducted the study by using  305 search terms. These are search terms such as; “how to be healthy”, “how to make a healthy smoothie”, “workout gyms near me”, “the best way to lose belly fat”, “what is the best skin anti-aging cream”, " best glute exercises”, “how to meditate properly” along with many more.

Lowest Ranking City

Ranking at the bottom of the list as the least interested city in a healthy lifestyle is Union City, with just 269 average monthly searches per 10,000 people and 1,757 over 12 months. Union City's top search is "gym near me," and their second most popular search term is "fitness."

Second to bottom is Newark, despite having such a large population. The data reveals it only has 341 average monthly searches per 10,000 people for health-related terms. Similar to Union City, Newark's top search is "gym near me." However, their second most popular search term is "healthy food near me."

Third bottom is Cliffside Park, with a population of 25,560, residents search for health-related terms an average 883 times over 12 months. Same as Newark, Cliffside Park's most popular search terms are "gym near me" and healthy food near me."

The fourth unhealthiest destination of New Jersey is Bayonne, with an average monthly search volume of 355. The only time I've visited Bayonne was to get on a cruise ship. Considering the way I've eaten on those cruises,

The fifth least interested place in New Jersey is Elizabeth, ranking at 105th place. The average health-related search volume over 12 months for residents is 4,917.

The bottom five cities are followed by East Orange, Camden, Passaic, Patterson, and Vineland. Sayreville and Perth Amboy came in at fifteenth and sixteenth respectively.
