It airs this Sunday night, director James Cameron has completed his investigation into whether Leonardo DiCaprio‘s “Titanic” character could have survived the sinking ship. He performed a scientific re-enactment of the movie’s tragic scene for an upcoming National Geographic special. The experiment used stunt doubles to analyze whether there was space for both Jack and Rose to sit on the ship’s door and survive. The question has dogged fans of the film for 25 years.
Titanic director James Cameron told the NY Post that he is launching an investigation into why Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character, Jack died in the film. Whether you think so or not, we’ve all heard the argument that Jack could have survived by climbing onto Rose’s door in the freezing waters surrounding the ship after the sinking of the “unsinkable” ship.
James Cameron says, “A new investigation we’ve just done will settle this fan-based question about Jack and Rose and a piece of floating debris, which everyone calls a door.” He went on to say, “It’s, technically, not a door, it’s a piece of wood paneling from the first-class cabin.”
Mind. Blown! Wait, what? Huh?? Could this be true? Did he really say that?
Yes, he did! The door that Rose was floating on and Jack didn’t climb on to stay alive was NOT a door at all. It’s a piece of a wall. That alone is cause for an investigation and, at the very least, an extensive discussion. This is like finding out Rose didn’t actually throw the Hope Diamond into the ocean, E.T. really isn’t an alien or Pete “Maverick” Mitchell was actually a bus driver.
Back to the actual investigation.
The 25-year debate hasn’t lost momentum through the years and now James says, “a forensic investigation” in the upcoming National Geographic documentary, “Titanic: 25 Years Later,” will do a deep dive and investigate the controversial debate. “The show will scientifically recreate exactly what Jack and Rose endured when the Titanic sank in the cold, Atlantic waters.” They also found stunt doubles who look like Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
So add “door-troversy” to the long list of “Titanic” topics we’ll be discussing for the rest of our lives.
The documentary is scheduled to be released on February 5th, and the movie will be re-released in theatres on February 10th.
3 New Jersey Restaurants Among Yelp's Top 100 U.S. Restaurants of 2023
Food is one of the few things that can really bring people together. Sometimes people use eating as a way to socialize, and some have even turned eating into a career or a professional sport.
So can you believe that among the million-plus restaurants in the United States? Some of the very best are located right here in New Jersey!?
Each year the online crowdsource review site Yelp publishes its top restaurants across the United States. They gather the data through user submissions and other cultural factors such as geographic representation, ratings, reviews, etc.
You’ll be glad to know Jersey had three locations this year within the top 100. This is an increase from Yelp’s 2022 list in which only two Garden State restaurants were honored.
With such a wide variety of food types having even one place featured is a win in my book. It certainly goes to show that New Jersey residents know a thing or two about food.
This year’s winners included Jessica’s Café(40) a delightful Italian and French fusion located in Plainfield. Kenko Sushi(78) over in Lincoln Park which offers quality sushi rolls. Lastly, Nicholas Anthony’s Family Kitchen(88) right in West Orange makes you feel like a part of the family as they offer up some Italian cuisine.
You really can’t go wrong with any of the three ranked Jersey locations, but maybe you’re planning a road trip across the Great Garden State so why not hit all three? This is the 10-year anniversary since Yelp started its annual listing. You know the competition was fierce, so if you’re even traveling out of state here is 100 of the best eating establishments this year according to Yelp.
