Survey: New Jersey’s Ideal Vacation Location and Cost
If you’re in New Jersey singing Mele Kalikimaka and dreaming of a Christmas where the palm trees sway, researchers at Aqua Expeditions might have a clue into your picture of paradise. They surveyed 2,200 Americans to find out what the ideal vacation looks like in every state including location, transportation, lodging, budget, and more.
Here’s the ideal trip according to New Jersey. The favored setting would be the beach. Only five states prefer a mountain getaway, Texas, North Carolina, Minnesota, Kentucky, and Louisiana, and just two, Nevada and Hawaii, prefer a vacation in the city.
New Jersey residents wanted to go somewhere warm during winter. Unlike the rest, Hawaii residents would rather go somewhere cold during the winter, Nevadans would rather go somewhere warm during the summer, and Arizonans would rather go somewhere cold during the summer. Ideally, they would be staying in a resort and would get to their destination via driving, and it would be an International destination.
Great restaurants and food is the most important element to someone from New Jersey. A vacation with beautiful views is the top priority for 29 states, followed by a relaxed and restful atmosphere for 13 states. The three states that would choose a location with lots of exciting activities are Florida, West Virginia, and Illinois, but New Jersey is the only one that would say great restaurants are the most important part of a vacation.
We were the 12th most desperate for a vacation, with a need rating of 8.18/10. The state most in need of a vacation is South Carolina with an 8.64 rating. The state that needs one the least is Connecticut at 7.08. Interestingly, South Carolina residents also have the lowest estimated vacation cost at $4,598.
The ideal vacation in New Jersey costs $5,236, that’s the 36th most expensive. The state with the highest estimated cost of a dream vacation is Massachusetts at $8,284. Only 3 states surveyed said they don’t think they’ll ever be able to go on their dream vacation, Arkansas, Massachusetts, and Missouri say it would be too expensive.
