The Rutgers University Dance Marathon to benefit Embrace Kids Foundation is back, and Magic 98.3 is proud to be a part of it once again!
We have teamed up with the Embrace Kids Foundation for a number of years now, and as a Rutgers alum myself, this event is special for me on a number of levels. First of all, the organization is beyond amazing. They help to improve the quality of life for families whose children are facing cancer, sickle cell and other health-related challenges. Rutgers has been involved with the Dance Marathon for decades, and the amount of money they raise for Embrace Kids is astounding. As a matter of fact, to date, the Rutgers University Dance Marathon has donated more than $7.9 million dollars to the Embrace Kids Foundation. The students who work behind the scenes on the marathon and directly with Embrace Kids and their families embody compassion and dedication.
I have been fortunate to see it on both sides – both on the air and as one of the dancers.

One year, I actually ‘danced!’
Back in my early days at Magic, I remember being back in the studio, doing my shift and talking with everyone on site. I was truly amazed at everything that was going on both with the Rutgers University Dance Marathon and with the Embrace Kids Foundation. In 2015, three years after graduating, I danced with one of my best friends (who I refer to as my “Co-Director of Fabulous”), Abha. Her sister, Ankita, played a huge role in planning and executing the Dance Marathon while at Rutgers and continues to be an advocate since graduating. The energy on the dance floor was palpable, and you could really feel a united mission to help these families while staying on your feet for quite a long time!
Two years ago, I had the honor of broadcasting live on site with Debbie Mazella. We had a blast hanging out and talking with the amazing people who make Embrace Kids the phenomenal foundation that it is and, most importantly, with the children and families they work so hard to help here in our community.
Even if you’re not able to make it out to the RAC in Piscataway while Cindy Vero and Mike McGinn will be broadcasting live on Friday and Saturday, I hope you’re able to check out the Rutgers Dance Marathon and Embrace Kids Foundation sites to find out how you can contribute to these fantastic causes. You’ll be glad you did!
