Now a food truck that has been operating since 2019 is offering New Jersey its first ever taste at Filipino cuisine.
From NJ.com Joseph Maglaqui, and Jeffrey Fama, are two cousins who shared a dream of owning a business together, they’ve now taken on the challenge as they opened their food truck Twelve, named after the number of cousins in their family. Is New Jersey’s first ever Filipino food truck that is offering authentic and traditional dishes with a twist. Such dishes include both pork and chicken skewers as well as pancit (a stir-fried noodle dish) and lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) both of which the cousins use their own grandmother’s recipe really cementing in that family connection into their food.
Maqlaqui and old Bridge resident was asked why he and Fama chose New Jersey, simply put by the co-owner, New Jersey is home for him so the comfortability played a part, however also Jersey’s huge population of Filipino residents helped influence their decision. While Fama wasn’t born or raised in New Jersey, he also considers it to be home for him.
It’s a wholesome story of expressing their family’s culture through dishes made for them by their grandmother and it certainly touches the heart. The duo posts their schedule over on their Instagram and say the effort put into making the schedule is done a month in advance so they always know what will be happening.
