Most Popular 4th of July Barbeque Food in New Jersey
4th of July get-togethers are rocking’ throughout New Jersey today and all weekend long. We’re hosting a 4th of July barbeque or we’ve been invited to one. When the weather is nice it makes it so much more fun. Swimming, games, music, cocktails, and, of course, the food.
There isn’t a more patriotic holiday in America. That means that if you’re serving or bringing some backyard cuisine it’s got to be a summer holiday staple. You might get a bit of a strange reaction if you bring pork fried rice or hot chicken soup to a 4th of July barbeque.
My go-to when bringing something to a party is a case of beer. You can always use more beer, and if it’s not needed they can save it for another day.
But we’re talking about food and some of the favorites like chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, and corn on the cob. It’s all good and along with ribs, hamburgers, or cole slaw makes for a fantastic 4th of July barbeque menu.
New Jersey’s Favorite 4th of July Barbeque Food
That brings us to the favorite 4th food by state, specifically New Jersey. According to the survey by time2play, the most popular Independence Day food in New Jersey is baked beans.
Keep in mind the survey isn’t about favorite food, it’s the most popular. While baked beans aren’t the most popular in the country, they are second on the list. That simply means you’re going to see baked beans at more 4th of July barbeques than many other dishes.
Number one on the list is potato salad. Ten states in the country say potato salad is the most popular food compared to eight states choosing baked beans. In New York, it’s cole slaw, potato salad in Pennsylvania, and in Connecticut, it’s macaroni salad.
When I think of a 4th of July barbeque, the first thing that comes to mind is barbeque chicken. When I was a kid we’d spend the 4th at my aunt and uncle’s house. My uncle would make the best barbeque chicken ever. Loaded with barbeque sauce and burnt just a little bit to create a delicious holiday meal. We also had many other staples including potato salad, cole slaw, watermelon, and, of course, baked beans.
