Child Killed In New Jersey House Fire
A young female child was killed early Sunday morning due to a house fire in a Plainfield, New Jersey. ABC -7 reported that both the fire & police department arrived to North Avenue near Johnson Avenue with people trapped inside. When responders were able to enter to property, rescuers found a young unresponsive girl and another child who was suffering from smoke inhalation.
The unresponsive girl was pronounced dead during a press conference by Plainfield Deputy Chief Joseph Franklin. The unresponsive child was taken to Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Medical Center In Edison. No other casualties have been reported but 23 other people were displaced due to the blaze.
New Jersey Red Cross volunteers have gotten involved and provided 23 people in 4 families with emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, clothing and other immediate needs. Disaster mental health services are also available for those who are seeking that treatment.
