‘Amazon Haul’ Competing with Shein and Temu
Our family like many other online shopping households, loves Amazon and has at least one box with its curved smiling arrow emblazoned on the side delivered to our doorstep just about every day. It’s very convenient and usually, the best price with free delivery if you’re an Amazon Prime member.
Then there’s Temu and Shein, and it’s really hard to get better prices than you get from these. This includes Amazon, and Jeff Bezos knows it. Temu, Shein, and others are cutting into Jeff’s profits, and apparently, he isn’t happy about it.
Therefore, Amazon has competitively added a brand new division called Amazon Haul to compete with fast and cheap brands like Temu and Shein.
What Amazon Haul’s Name Means
Amazon Haul got its name from the trend of social media subscribers showing their shopping “hauls” to the world.
The way Amazon Haul is competing with Temu, Shein, and other cyber competitors is by offering items primarily for twenty bucks or less. It’s kind of like a Five Below except it’s more like Twenty Below and has longer delivery times.
They’ll have the usual home goods, clothes, and electronics, but the items will take one to two weeks for delivery. There will also be shipping fees that will be charged if your order is under $25.
CBS News spoke with Neil Saunders, managing director of market research firm GlobalData, who talked about Amazon’s brand new venture in a statement.
He said, “Amazon Haul is a response to both the rise of low-price Chinese marketplaces and the fact that consumers are increasingly seeking value for money as they try to make their budgets stretch further. The value retail segment has been a major growth area over the past few years, and while the regular Amazon site has a good value for money reputation, its wide offer means that it is not primarily seen as an everyday low-price destination.”
We’ll see if this leads to more boxes on the front door each day.
