Dogs Can Smell Cancer on Humans

Dogs are a man’s best friend for more than just companionship. Dogs can help us remain healthy because most of what the dog sees and knows come through his nose. Their sniff can help detect breast, lung, and skin cancers, just to name a few. The dogs can sniff biochemical differences in our breath as we exhale. Cancerous cells produce a very specific odor, so much so, that even human noses can sniff it out when cancer is in the late stages.

According to SWNS, an Oxon, England woman is going viral for crediting her rescue dog with detecting her breast cancer. Lucy Giles says her 150-pound Newfoundland, “Brody,” alerted her to a tumor by sniffing and nuzzling her right armpit. She says, “At first, I thought it was him wanting a bit of fuss and attention, but I decided that I should perhaps take notice, as it was just my right side [that] he would do this. I was washing myself in the shower one morning and decided to have a feel under my breasts and examine myself, and that’s when I felt a lump right there in my armpit.”
Lucy underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy. She believes Brody came into her life for a reason.
