Jennifer Aniston Says Many People Who Watch ”Friends” For the First Time Today are Offended By It
I guess looking back at any show that was filmed ten years ago might seem a bit antiquated. Friends ran from 1994 until 2004. I enjoyed watching the show because I was as much of a fan of Jennifer Aniston’s hairstyles as I was of her acting.
There were terms back then that were not even in our vocabulary in those years such as transgender. According to the New York Post, Jennifer Aniston says that many people who watch ”Friends” for the first time today are offended by it.
Offended that there was not enough diversity in the long run, popular show. Also, there were some jokes in the show that seem very offensive today. Jennifer says, that humor nowadays requires actors and comedians to “be very careful” when making jokes.
According to Jennifer Aniston, “There’s a whole generation of people, kids, who are now going back to episodes of ‘Friends’ and find them offensive.
There were things that were never intentional and others…well, we should have thought it through, but I don’t think there was a sensitivity like there is now.
Comedy has evolved — movies have evolved. Now, it’s a little tricky because you have to be very careful, which makes it really hard for comedians, because the beauty of comedy is that we make fun of ourselves, make fun of life.”
