‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ Brings In $434 Million During Opening Weekend
James Cameron’s sequel to the largest box office hit was met with a good opening weekend as the film pulled in viewers from around the world, to see Avatar: The Way of Water, but where does this place it compared to its predecessor as well as for other films released this year? Well, I think it’s certainly safe to say that the film had a good weekend and with luck that will follow through till the new year.
The motion picture event of a generation is finally here.

Some are saying Avatar: The Way of Water isn’t doing as well as predictions say leading some to think that it won’t come anywhere near the first film’s $2.92 billion. However, what they are failing to see is that Avatar back in 2009 had a domestic opening of $77 million. Meanwhile, It was the International market that really sent the film flying. Avatar 2. Right now has passed that domestic opening by a fair amount currently at $134 million.
However, that is not all it’s done as in terms of numbers the film is already in the top ten of the year in its opening weekend, which isn’t much of a surprise considering the hype for the film. But what I think is really going to sell it, is the holiday season and subsequent New Year. I think this is the perfect time for families to go out and see a film together, but what will it take for Avatar 2 to be the most successful film of the year?

Well, firstly it’s going to have to pass a majority of the Marvel movies that were released this year, which include Thor: Love and Thunder (7th place) Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (5th place), and finally Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness (3rd place). Then if it is able to. It needs to beat out Jurassic World: Dominion and Top Gun: Maverick for second and first respectively both films are over a billion dollars World Wide
I think it’s not only possible, but we will see it happen within the next month that Avatar: The Way of Water will be in the top five. I mean internationally they are on track to beat out Thor and The Batman. So we will have to wait and see what kind of holiday magic this new film can pull off. Maybe we will see a new star in the top ten-earning films in history.
