That’s right boxing fans the update that the fight between Jake Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr. has been canceled is true.

According to reports from both fighters, the issue revolves around the weight difference between Jake and Hasim, which was in their contract that he would have to fight at 200 pounds.

This wasn’t an issue for him, however, the New York State Athletic Commission, wanted to make sure he was losing the weight safely even going as far as to make the weight target 205 lbs. or they would not sanction the fight. Hasim previously weighed in at around 230 pounds. Thus, they were tracking his weight loss progression his last one before the fight would’ve been this week on Friday. Though what caused some concern was that he was at 215 lbs. at his most recent update only one pound less from his previous update at 216 lbs. Now here’s where the controversy begins as both fighters are blaming each other for the cancelation.

According to Jake Paul, Hasim is scared to fight him. Hence, his team said that Hasim was not going lower than his current weight of 215 lbs even going as far as to say if that wasn’t acceptable then they are pulling out of the fight. However, this remains unproven as the ‘Problem Child’ made remarks comparing Hasim to Tommy Fury. He also had canceled his fight against Jake, in his own words calling the pair the most unprofessional fighters he’s ever worked with.

Now over to Hasim Rahman Jr., he posted on Twitter saying he was fine with taking the penalty if he was over the target weight, which would have left him with only $5000 minimum made per his contract but, he was going to get as close as he could to the 205lbs target. Even admitted it was hard due to his body not normally going that low. But the fighter calls out Jake saying his team is the one who pulled the plug and he was still ready to knock Jake Paul out.

So, who is really in the wrong? Until the truth of the matter is released the fight remains canceled much to the dismay of fans who were ready to see either Jake Paul continues his win streak or finally hit the ring floor. Perhaps the two teams will be able to come to an agreement though as of right now it seems unlikely. Keep up with all your favorite sports media right here with us as we wait for further updates.
