Eminem Has ‘Zero Recollection’ Of Recording His Rihanna Diss
In Eminem’s recently dropped Music To Be Murdered By: Side B, he apologizes to Rihanna for a snippet of the song “Things Get Worse” that got leaked years ago. On the track, Eminem sided with Chris Brown regarding the assault that happened when Chris and Rihanna were dating.
Per Genius, on “Things Get Worse”, Eminem rapped, “I’m not playing Rihanna, where’d you get the VD at/ Let me add my two cents/ Of course I side with Chris Brown/ I’d beat a b—- down, too/ If she gave my d—- an itch, now.”
He apologized on the song “Zeus” and said, “And wholeheartedly, apologies, Rihanna/ For that song that leaked, I’m sorry, Ri/ It wasn’t meant to cause you grief.”
Now, in a new interview, Eminem reveals that he has no memory of recording the initial diss.
According to Billboard, He said, “Honest to God, I told Paul this when it first happened. I was like, ‘First, I didn’t know how somebody got it. Second of all, I have no … zero recollection of even remembering doing that verse. Like, the rhyme scheme doesn’t even sound, like, familiar to me. So I was caught off guard, too. I was like, ‘What the f—-?! I said that?'”
Although he doesn’t remember saying it, he still takes accountability for it and calls the verse, “f—-ing stupid.”
Em also talks about how he had to learn to rap again because of his battle with addiction. He said, “With the Relapse record, when I was first started learning how to rap again because of the drug situation that I went through and having to relearn a lot of things, that was one of those things that was like, ‘Well, if it rhymes, say it.'”
He lastly adds, “That’s not even an excuse. I’m sure looking back now I should have thought better of it.”
