Yesterday, Demi Lovato joined Miley Cyrus on her newly created Bright Minded: Live With Miley talk show, which she created to keep people entertained amid the coronavirus pandemic. The girls laughed, reminisced about their Disney days, and even shared that they’ve both experienced body issues.
Miley reveals that after reading comments online after her infamous VMA’s performance with Robin Thicke, she struggled with body image. She says, “I basically went through two or three years where I wouldn’t wear shorts. I stopped wearing skirts onstage, all this s—, because after the VMAs, and I had on my cute little new bodysuit, everyone started comparing me to a turkey and putting a turkey in my outfit because I was so skinny and so pasty.”
Miley and Demi also talked about how they connected when they were younger. “You’ve always been a light in my life and that’s why we connected at 14,” Demi said. “I had a f—ing gap in my tooth. And we still connected then because we just saw something in each other.” Miley responded with, “Or maybe we were just gay as f—.”
Afterward, the pair awkwardly laughed, and Demi looked visibly shy and embarrassed. Miley then said, “We all got it, we know.”
During the show, Miley also chatted about the importance of social distancing and gave insight to the things she’s doing to keep herself healthy. Watch the full episode below.
