You Decide: Reddit Votes Mom is Right and Daughter is Wrong

A mother asked a Reddit thread if she overreacted when punishing her 14-year-old daughter.
“She slams her bedroom door on her way out and back in… Pretty much any time she enters or exits her room the door gets slammed,” the mom wrote. “And it’s only her door, none of the other doors in the house.”
This mystery mom also shared that her kid closes her door with such force that it “shakes the walls and frequently wakes up everyone.”
While telling the story she said that she has spoken to her daughter several times about it, but for some reason, her daughter keeps slamming the door. Then the mom felt it was the last straw when her door-slamming daughter used the bathroom late at night and woke everyone up. The mom had to be at work at 5 a.m., so she decided to finally threaten her little girl with the removal of her door if it was slammed just one more time.
Her kid “proceeded to yell at me to leave her alone and then slammed it 5 times as hard as she could.” The mom made good on her threat and in the door’s place installed an “industrial type” curtain with “little Velcro pieces on the walls and curtain sides so it stays in place.” The curtain will stay up until the daughter agrees to stop slamming her door, but the mom is worried she went too far.
As expected her daughter had a meltdown. “She said we’re being emotionally abusive and taking away her right to privacy,” the mom explained, adding her kid is no longer speaking to anyone.
Reddit’s verdict is that the mom was not the jerk in this case and instead say the daughter got what she deserved for disrespecting her mom who gave her multiple warnings.
The sad part is that if a child repeatedly ignores and disrespects a parent so overtly, then it’s obvious that the family has bigger issues than just a slamming door.
Kid's Choice Award Winners List
All awards shows should have slime! It’s more fun!
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2023 was, as usual, a slime-filled, star-studded event. It was hosted by Nate Burleson and Charlie D’Amelio live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
The annual Nickelodeon ceremony honors the best in film, television, music, sports, and more, and it’s all voted on by people from all over the world. There were a lot of big winners for the night, but when it comes to the music category Taylor Swift and Harry Styles took home multiple orange blimps. Taylor won two of the Awards, one for Favorite Female Artist and the other for Favorite Album for Midnights – 3am Edition. Harry beat Taylor’s total with three for Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Global Music Star, and Favorite Song for “As It Was.”
Awards were also handed out for television, film, sports, video games, pets, and literature.
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2023 are scheduled to air again tonight at 7:00 on TeenNick, and tomorrow, Tuesday, March 7, at 8:00 on Nicktoons. The show is also available on Nickelodeon On Demand.
