New Jersey’s Most Popular Super Bowl Food
Super Bowl LVII is right around the corner. What’s even more important than getting a good seat in front of the television is what you’ll eat during the game. Bid On Equipment has narrowed down the most sought-after food for the Super Bowl by state. They determine each state’s favorite Super Bowl food by surveying 1,053 people back in December 2022. They surveyed 50% male, 49% female and 1% non-binary/non-conforming. Respondents ranged in age from 18 to 80 with an average age of 40.
After getting a range of participants, they analyzed “the Google search volume of 9,150 terms related to Super Bowl parties. Items such as “buffalo chicken recipe dip,” “baked buffalo wings,” and “7 layer nacho dip” were some of the searches they made over the period of December 2021 to March 2022. They then analyzed the most disproportionately popular Google search terms to find out what was the most popular dish per state.
The results of each state were then narrowed down to compare with the national average to determine which result was higher (the national average or the state’s individual result.) Bid On Equipment used this method to make a more accurate estimate when comparing states of lower populations versus higher populations which would have more search volume.
They were able to determine that nachos were New Jersey’s favorite Super Bowl snack. The Garden State along with California, Connecticut, and Massachusetts also chose nachos. Other popular options include: buffalo wings, queso, garlic knots, fried pickles, guacamole, pigs in a blanket, chili, tater tots, 7-layer dip, mozzarella sticks, meatballs, and more.
The most popular food choice was meatballs with the least popular choice being spinach artichoke dip amongst the states. When it came to dips, queso, salsa, guacamole, buffalo chicken and ranch were the top choices.
When it came to drinks, Americans preferred to have a sober Super Bowl with alcoholic drinks leading at 43%. It is to be noted that some participants surveyed were also under 21, the legal drinking age. Next, was beer and water at 41%, followed by cocktails at 20% and wine at 12%.
