Here’s Why New Jersey Is Becoming The East Coast Version of Hollywood
Over the past few months, New Jersey has been growing in the film and television industry and now a streaming titan is planning to join the fray as the Garden State is well on its way to becoming the East Coast version of Hollywood.

Netflix is the newest film provider to take a shot at building up New Jersey as an entertainment icon. Earlier this month New Jersey officials confirmed that the streaming service Netflix has made a bid on a well-known location in Monmouth County. The “Mega Parcel” in Fort Monmouth NJ was put up for bid back in 2021. However, Netflix isn’t the only company eyeing the 289-acre property. What is not being disclosed is the amount Netflix bid nor will it be as of right now according to NJ officials. Another important point is that no matter who wins the bid, the preservation of important landmarks like Fort Monmouth’s parade grounds, World War II Memorial, and Cowan Park.
However, if won Netflix may be planning to turn the property into their second-largest production complex right behind their largest in New Mexico. This is major news as Netflix isn’t the first entertainment company that has made moves in New Jersey. Last month it was reported that Lionsgate a popular entertainment company is further along the development stage of their new Newark film/TV facility. In partnership with NJPAC, the studio would bring countless jobs to the Garden State as well as many popular films and shows.

On top of that Bayonne has plans for constructing a massive Hollywood-like faculty along the NJ waterfront. The plan for what is being called 1888 Studio’s was approved in late March of this year. Bring yet another plan to grow New Jersey’s film and television business. Of course, it will be a few years before we see any of these facilities completed. However, we still have one big question on our minds.
