Jack Quaid to Parents Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid: Don’t Watch ‘The Boys’
Jack Quaid, star of The Boys, tells his famous parents, Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, not to watch the famously rauchy and violent show.
Jack Quaid in The Boys
In case you aren’t aware, The Boys is an ongoing TV series on Amazon based on the comics of the same name. It follows Quaid, who plays Hughie, and his team of vigilantes as they fight off superheroes, or “Supes,” who abuse their powers.
Aside from Quaid, the series also stars Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, and Dominique McElligott, among others. It’s so popular that it has spawned a few spinoffs. Due to its humor and sharp political satire, The Boys continuously receives positive reviews from critics and fans alike.
Nudity in The Boys
In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz during New York Comic Con via People, Quaid said, “Oh, man, I kind of just want nudity to stop. My butt’s had a lot of screen time and it’s not a great one, you know what I mean.”
Quaid also told his famous parents not to watch the series at all. “Anything involved in my a–, I’ve just been like, ‘Can you just not watch?’ I mean, season 3, don’t watch it. Like no one in my family should watch season 3. My butt’s all over that thing.”
Keeping it Covered
In season 3, Quaid’s character got the superpower of teleportation from Compound V, which only transports biological matter leaving his clothes behind every time he teleports. Unlike other superhero films and TV shows that avoided exploring this detail, The Boys showed the realistic portrayal of teleportation, resulting in Quaid having a lot of nude scenes in this season. Fortunately, (or unfortunately if you ask him) Quaid was offered modesty wear.
In a 2022 interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Jack Quaid admitted the modesty wear provided to him, “may be worse than being actually naked.”
Will There Be Less Nudity in The Boys Season 5?
Screen Rant points out that some of Quaid’s scenes in The Boys have been somewhat controversial, as his character was the victim of sexual assault. And Quaid, as mentioned, has said that he doesn’t love nude scenes. But he may not have enough pull to affect what makes the script.
At any rate, we may have to wait a bit for the answer. The Boys will wrap up with season 5, set to premiere in 2026. In the meantime, stream the first four seasons on Amazon Prime Video.
