With all kinds of Veterans Day deals available, Reading Cinemas in Manville, New Jersey is getting in on the action by honoring Veterans.
They’re offering moviegoers specially priced five-dollar tickets on Veterans Day for Fighting Spirit: A Combat Chaplain’s Journey, exploring the heroism and sacrifice of United States combat chaplains throughout every American war. The offer is good for all November 11th show times of the film.
The movie opened in theatres on Friday, Nov 8th, from Falling Down Films. The new documentary by Paulist Productions, a faith-based production company in the Catholic tradition, includes a production team of award-winning filmmakers and co-directors Rich Hull and Justin D. Roberts, and executive producer Chris Pratt.
While going into battle without a weapon might seem unimaginable, this is the reality for combat chaplains who accompany soldiers into the heart of conflict.
Hannah Winterling, promotions and events manager for Reading Cinemas says, “We are honored to share such a powerful film experience with our community and to recognize the incredible courage of these chaplains. We hope everyone will come to hear these important stories and are pleased to make it easier for guests to join us and bring loved ones along for a fitting way to observe Veterans Day.”
Fighting Spirit: A Combat Chaplain’s Journey Synopsis
Fighting Spirit: A Combat Chaplain’s Journey follows a young former Army chaplain who goes on a journey that is inspired by the extraordinary, often untold stories of the chaplain heroes who came before him. They are spiritual warriors who enter the battlefield without weapons to provide courage and comfort to soldiers of all backgrounds and beliefs.
From a United States Army Ranger who later became a chaplain and was immortalized in the movie Black Hawk Down, to the four chaplains who sacrificed their lives aboard the U.S.S. Dorchester during World War II, to the remarkable story of a chaplain whose remains were recently returned home after 70 years and is possibly the Vatican’s next saint, the film honors the unsung heroes who bring comfort to the front lines.
Father Tom Gibbons, C.S.P., who also served as an executive producer on the film says, “Fighting Spirit: A Combat Chaplain’s Journey tells a story of faith, patriotism, and unity, qualities needed now more than ever. Stories of chaplains from diverse faiths serving those who serve us offer a powerful reminder and inspiration to come together as Americans, regardless of faith or political background.”
