Ke Huy Quan To Star in Lionsgate’s New Action Thriller ‘Fairytale in New York’
After winning the Oscar in 2022 for Best Supporting Actor for the film Everything, Everywhere All At Once (a role he got after immediately impressing the directors) and starring in his first-ever lead role, Love Hurts (coming to theaters in February 7, 2025) Ke Huy Quan is once again set to captivate audiences in his upcoming film, Fairytale In New York. Fans are delighted to hear about Quan’s latest project and remarkable career comeback after being in an acting hiatus for years.
Ke Huy Quan Set to Play a Cab Driver in Fairytale In New York
Fairytale In New York follows Quan’s character, a New York City cab driver who goes on his last ride before he celebrates Christmas with his estranged son. However, the holiday spirit takes an unexpected turn when he has an unfortunate altercation with criminals. Determined not to let this setback ruin his plans. He embarks on a high-stakes pursuit to recover his kid’s priceless gift, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
There are sure to be a lot of high-speed car chases and action sequences that will have viewers at the edge of their seats with emotional punches as Quan tries to reconnect with his distanced son.
What We Know About the Movie So Far
The film’s director is Jalmari Helander who is behind the hit Sisu, a historical action thriller, with a script written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. A statement released by Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said, “As soon as we watched Sisu, we knew Jalmari was a filmmaker we wanted to be in business with again. Fairytale in New York is a wildly entertaining, thrill ride of an action film and an emotionally resonant story about family.”
He added, “And every once in a while, an actor hits their prime—Ke Huy Quan is having that moment right now and his deep experience crafting action in front of and behind the camera as well as his exceptional likability make him the perfect actor for this project.”
Iif his previous performances are any indication, Fairytale in New York promises to be an entertaining film and with Helander at the helm, action-packed. Fans can look forward to seeing Quan bring his undeniable charm, humor, and intensity to the big screen once again.
