Study: The Average Holiday Bonus in New Jersey is…
Four days until Christmas and still no bonus? Obviously, not everyone gets a holiday bonus. In fact, 68% of New Jersey residents didn’t receive one at all last year. Nothing at all, and some people rely on their bonus to pay off holiday debt.
That’s according to a study by the team at scheduling software Deputy which asked more than 2,600 Americans across industries and regions what types of bonuses they received, revealing the average holiday bonus in every state.
Of those who did receive a cash bonus from their employer in New Jersey, he’s some of the findings.
The average holiday bonus in New Jersey is $947.86. New Jersey ranks #11 among the states for the highest holiday bonus. The average holiday bonus overall, for Americans who received any bonus, is $731.19, so New Jersey is above the national average.
The most common bonus range in New Jersey is between $5 and $100, with 35.71% of respondents in New Jersey reporting bonuses within this range. On average, the most common bonus range for Americans overall is between $120 and $500, with 1 in 3 respondents (32.4%) falling in the range. Across each state, the largest percentage of residents reported no cash bonus at all.
The study also found that New Jersey is one of 31 states including Pennsylvania that prefer a company-paid holiday meal as their favorite holiday perk. New Yorkers would rather have a company holiday party. In fact, Company holiday parties come in second place for the most wanted perk during the holidays. Respondents from 20% of the country say that they would prefer a party in place of a holiday bonus.
Here are some other findings… 15% of those in the finance and insurance industries say they received a bonus of $9000 or more last year. 59% of those who responded said they did not receive a bonus last year due to Covid. And, 1 in 5 think they’re getting a smaller bonus because of a potential recession.
