10 Days Of Tax Free Back To School Shopping In New Jersey Is Here

New Jersey is making back to school shopping a little bit easier for parents out there who are getting their kids ready for the upcoming school year. School supplies purchased in the Garden State will all be tax free for 10 days starting tomorrow August 26th. Gov. Phil Murphy signed a $50.6  a state budget that included a sales tax holiday on July 1st and New Jerseyians across the state will now benefit from it starting tomorrow!

6.625% is the tax percentage that consumers will save on from August 27th through September 5th. The products you can save on are items such as pens, art supplies, notebooks, computers, text books, and sports equipment. Now here is where it really gets good; Parents who are getting ready to go shopping for their kids can not only save by shopping in person, but they can save with online shopping as well! On average, you can expect to save anywhere from $20 to $50, which will all depend on the amount of stuff you need to buy for your children.

With inflation being at an all time high in nearly 40 years, this tax holiday couldn’t have come at a better time. According to New Jersey Treasurer Elizabeth Muoio, “The tax holiday will help hardworking parents and teachers across our state stretch their dollars a little further and fill the annual back-to-school shopping ritual with excitement rather than worry.”
