Series creator James Gunn and star John Cena announced a second season for HBO Max’s DC series, Peacemaker, on Twitter today (February 16), after the show debuted last month.

“That’s right, #Peacemaker is coming back for Season Two,” wrote The Suicide Squad director. “Thanks to Peter Safran, @JohnCena, our incredible cast & crew, our wildly supportive & lovely friends at @HBOMax – and mostly all of you for watching!”

Cena, 44, wrote, “Learning about and eventually becoming #PEACEMAKER was an exercise in exploring the fun and absolutely genius mind of @JamesGunn. It’s been a privilege to work on this show and with the cast, crew and @hbomax team. Elated to say we’ll be back to create more peace for Season ✌️!”

The news was announced just ahead of the show’s first season finale, which drops tomorrow, February 17. Watch the trailer for the first season below:

  'Suicide Squad' director James Gunn said of the unskippable title sequence, “First of all, I want to vanquish the skip-forward button. There’s a lot of people that work hard on the show and I want people to get to see the name of our production designer Lisa, our editors Fred and Greg, and all of our guest stars and actors and I want them to see those names.”

  Gunn also said of the opening song of Wig Wam’s ‘Do Ya Want To Taste It,’ the basic concept of everyone in the opening credits scene having a serious expression on their faces, while having dance moves that are as “ludicrous as possible” was Gunn’s ultimate goal, which we think he surely achieved.
