‘Mean Girls’ Will Not Return To Broadway
It’s a sad day for Broadway fans.
When the Great White Way reopens post-pandemic, Mean Girls the musical won’t be one of the marquees.
In a tweet thanking theatergoers for “helping us make fetch happen,” the Tony-nominated production announced that after 833 performances, its stage is going dark.
Joking that the news “makes us want to cry into our cheese fries,” they did note that the show would go on a National Tour this summer and Paramount Pictures is working on an upcoming film adaptation.
Opening on April 8, 2018, Mean Girls went on to gross around $124 million, according to the Associated Press.
