Here Were The Most Googled Thanksgiving Side Dishes By State
Cooking a turkey can be a rather stressful production, and surely lots of Americans start Googling information about how to do the best job cooking the bird at this time of year.
But that’s not the only Thanksgiving delicacy that Americans search for on Google.
Google Trends released some interesting statistics in 2019 about what people were using the search engine for in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Side dishes were being searched, and those side dishes varied by state.
Apparently, the southeast was very obsessed with dressing, as it was the most searched sidedish in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. Potatoes have wide appeal: mashed potatoes were the most searched side dish in Alaska while sweet potatoes lead in Hawaii. Potatoes, in general, were the most searched in Maine.
Perhaps surprisingly, fruit salad was the most searched side dish in Texas, and mac and cheese was the most searched in California.
In North Dakota, people were searching for some low carb foods. Keto soup was trending there.
The most popular searched side dishes in the United States were, unsurprisingly, casseroles, veggies, stuffing and dressing.
Other interesting facts shared by Google: most of the country searched for information about how to cook a smoked turkey, but some states on the east coast searched for frying or roasting. Pumpkin pie was the most searched pie, with pecan pie in second place. Find more search stats here.
